For the past couple of months, Senior Karena Cash has been working with Kentucky Youth Advocates to write a bill addressing school stability for children in foster care. A month ago, it was filed by Senator Dan Seum as Senate Bill 190 "An Act Relating to the Educational Stability of Children in an Out of Home Placement". Yesterday, Karena had the opportunity to present the bill and deliver testimony on it to the Senate Education Committee. The bill passed unanimously, with the only complaint being from Senators scared she might run against them one day. After the Committee meeting, she sat in on the Senate Majority Caucus Meeting, where she once again presented the bill. After that, she was introduced to the Senate floor by Senator Seum and allowed to watch the Senate in action.
Here is a video of the speech she gave – it starts 13.35
