History:

Holy Cross High School, founded in 1984, carries forward the rich legacies of Angela Merici High School and Bishop David High School. As the only Catholic coeducational high school in Jefferson County, Holy Cross blends long standing tradition with a forward looking vision for students and families.

Students also enjoy access to a full Technology Center that includes a support desk, a broadcast studio, high performance computers for graphics, specialized software, and a growing esports program.

The campus also includes a Cognia STEM certified Makerspace, three modern science labs that include an Anatomage Science Table for immersive biology, chemistry, and physics lessons. The campus also features a Student Support Office that provides counseling and student resources, along with administrative suites, and spacious locker rooms for students. The main building houses a welcoming cafeteria, a full gymnasium, and a quiet chapel for reflection. Athletic and activity spaces include a field house with strength training equipment, a softball and baseball complex, a football field, and a regulation track.

Holy Cross is fully accredited through Cognia and proudly carries the distinction of Cognia STEM certification. Each part of the campus and program reflects the school’s commitment to innovation, community, and the formation of confident, service driven young adults.

Philosophy:

Holy Cross High School embraces the goal of developing the intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical growth of adolescents within an environment reflective of the teaching of Christ. Holy Cross, as a Catholic institution, is guided by the belief in each individual's worth as a child of God. A primary focus, therefore, is the cultivation of formal religious formation coupled with the propagation of Christian moral and spiritual values. Holy Cross, as an academic institution, seeks to provide challenging and stimulating academic opportunities commensurate with the individual student's abilities and interests. The academic requirements and curriculum offerings reflect a strong belief in a general liberal education as being the best preparation for either further academic study or direct entry into society's work force.

Mission:

Holy Cross High School, in the tradition of Angela Merici and Bishop David and sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville, is a Catholic college preparatory school committed to spiritual, academic, social, physical and emotional growth for every student. Together, young men and women from diverse backgrounds are prepared to become faith-filled, visionary, and inspirational leaders in service to their community, the Church, and the world, now and in the future.
