Classroom Teacher
Job Title: Early Childhood Center Classroom Teacher
Position Type: Full-time/Part-time
Location: Holy Cross Campus
Reports To: Center Director
Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Center Classroom Teacher to foster the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment for children aged 6 weeks-3 years old and will collaborate with other educators and families to ensure that each child’s growth and developmental milestones are supported. All employees of the Holy Cross Early Childhood Center must support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education, act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Louisville.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Management:
- Create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment where children can explore, play, and learn.
- Implement age-appropriate classroom activities and lesson plans that foster curiosity, problem-solving, and social-emotional development.
- Set clear expectations for behavior and use positive guidance techniques to support children’s emotional growth.
- Curriculum and Lesson Planning:
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with early learning standards.
- Adapt and modify lessons based on the needs and interests of the children in the classroom.
- Use observation and assessment data to track children’s progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Child Development:
- Observe and assess the development of each child and document their progress.
- Provide individualized support for children with unique learning needs or challenges.
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression through hands-on activities.
- Family Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss their child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including teaching assistants and specialists, to create an integrated learning experience.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences, meetings, and events as necessary.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that the classroom meets safety standards and is in compliance with local regulations and licensing requirements.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their well-being and safety.
- Administer basic first aid and handle emergencies according to established protocols.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest research and best practices in early childhood education.
- Stay current on child development theories, teaching strategies, and educational trends.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field (or currently pursuing).
- Required: High School diploma, 18+ years old, experience working with young children.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).
- Experience:
- Prior experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and age-appropriate educational practices.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with colleagues.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively and handle challenging situations calmly.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and interact with children for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed to assist children with various activities.

Classroom Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Center Classroom Teacher Assistant who supports the Lead Classroom Teacher to foster the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment for children aged 6 weeks-3 years old and will collaborate with other educators and families to ensure that each child’s growth and developmental milestones are supported. Key Responsibilities:
- Support Classroom Instruction: Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum and activities, ensuring that children are engaged in developmentally appropriate experiences.
- Assist with Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive classroom environment by supporting behavioral expectations, reinforcing rules, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
- Individual Support: Provide individualized attention to children, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional development as needed.
- Supervision: Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Record Keeping: Help maintain accurate records, including attendance, observations, and daily reports about children’s progress and behavior.
- Assist with Meals and Transitions: Help with feeding children, managing meal times, and supporting transitions between activities.
- Support Social-Emotional Development: Assist children with building social skills, managing emotions, and working cooperatively with others.
- Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Ensure the classroom is organized, clean, and well-stocked with materials and supplies. Help with daily cleaning tasks.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to ensure a smooth and effective classroom experience. Maintain positive communication with parents about their child's development and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, 16+ years old (required); Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
- Experience working with young children, especially in an early childhood education setting (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to assist children with physical tasks and participate in activities.
Work Environment:
- The Teacher Assistant works in a classroom environment with children aged 6 weeks-3 years old in an Early Childhood Center setting.
- Must be able to handle moderate noise levels and manage a lively, active classroom.
- May be required to assist children outdoors.
